Hay Fever

Pollen allergy

Pollen allergy, also known as hay fever, is the most common allergic disease. About 20 per cent of the population reacts to one or more types of pollen, mostly grasses. If a pollen allergy is left untreated, it can make everyday life difficult in many ways.

Hay Fever Symptoms Typical reactions to hay fever are sneezing attacks, runny nose, red, itchy and watery eyes, blocked nose, difficult nasal breathing, itching in the palate, nose and ears, coughing, and headaches. If not treated, allergic asthma can be developed in some cases.

Triggers of pollen allergy The predisposition to pollen allergy is often inherited. The immune system reacts to the proteins of the pollen flying in the air. Several types of pollen can trigger a reaction, such as those from trees, grasses, and herbs.

Relieve hay fever symptoms without side effects. The use of powerful air purifiers can significantly alleviate symptoms. They efficiently and quickly remove pollen from the air without any side effects. In addition, a powerful Air Purifier cleans the air of exhaust fumes, bad odours, annoying dust, mould, animal hair, dust mites and, nowadays significant, viruses and bacteria.

Airborne allergens such as pollen, house dust mites, animal fur or fungal spores can also trigger asthma.

Asthma

Asthma – also known as allergic asthma or bronchial asthma – is a disease of the airways: the bronchi are narrowed, making it difficult for those affected to breathe in and out. The narrowing of the bronchi is usually triggered by an allergy, inflammation or a reaction to irritants. Substances in the workplace with can also cause allergic asthma, such as flour dust from bakers or flowers from florists. Respiratory tract infections in small children or later in adults can also lead to asthma. Many non-specific enhancers can trigger or exacerbate asthma attacks.

So-called triggers are:
• Temperature fluctuations
• Weather influences, e.g. fog, cold air
• Bacterial and viral infections, e.g. colds, flu
• Respiratory infections
• Dust, e.g. in the basement, cleaning books, rooms, making beds
• Strong odours, perfumes, scents of flowers
• Smoke (tobacco)
• Air pollutants (ozone, exhaust fumes)

In order to lead a symptom-free life, contact with allergens should primarily be avoided or reduced. Identify your triggers and eliminate them whenever possible to avoid asthma attacks. Our air purifiers can reduce the pollen concentration in the air by 97 percent within five minutes.

Dust mites - How to get rid of

Dust Mites Allergy

A house dust mite allergy is triggered by inhaling the droppings of the house dust mite contained in the house dust. The house dust mite is an arachnid about 0.3 mm in size, invisible to the human eye. It lives and reproduces mainly where we humans feel comfortable - in living, warm rooms.

The animals themselves are harmless; they can neither sting nor bite and do not transmit diseases. They live naturally in house dust and feed mainly on animal and human dander, moulds and components from flour products. Mites are generally present in every household, and they are not a sign of poor hygiene. They are a year-round source of allergens and a significant component of our house dust.

The contact of allergens with mucous membranes in the eyes, nose, mouth and throat leads to typical symptoms of allergic rhinitis or allergic conjunctivitis: stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, red, itchy eyes. The inflammation of the upper respiratory tract can often become chronic, as sufferers can get in contact with house dust mites all year round.

Measures that reduce symptoms:
• Reduce dust exposure in living spaces by regularly vacuuming with appropriate allergy filters
• Use an efficient air purifier
• Keep the room dry and cool
• Use anti-mite bedding

Allergic symptoms of house dust allergy such as:
• Runny or blocked nose
• Sneezing fits
• coughing
• Asthma and shortness of breath
• Headache and tiredness
• Itching
• Watery eyes
can be a real headache for allergy sufferers. To help control house dust allergies, MAXVAC air purifiers with Alpaire® HEPA filters significantly contribute to allergen-free air quality.

Cat or dog allergy? Prevent dander from circulating through the house

Pet Allergy

Cats, dogs, horses or rodents can often trigger allergies and cause allergic symptoms all year round. Allergens from pets also bind to dust particles and can remain suspended in the air of a room for hours until they sink to the floor.

In cats, the main allergens are found in saliva, tear fluid, urine and dander. In dogs, they are found in fur and saliva. Interestingly, short-haired dogs produce more allergens than long-haired dogs.

Allergic symptoms can manifest themselves as rhinitis, conjunctivitis of the eyes and severe asthma. Animal hair spreads throughout the home and sticks to clothes and other textiles. In addition, other allergens from the air, such as pollen, house dust and mould spores, can stick to it. Even weeks after the animal has left the house, the allergens are still present in the flat.

As a first measure for improvement: Keep your distance. It would be best if you avoid contact with the animal. Nevertheless, this is not easy with a beloved pet. Cat allergies can usually be controlled with standard allergy drugs. However, it is advisable to avoid potential allergens as much as possible. Restrict the pet to certain sections of the house. Don't allow your cat or dog to roam free, and most importantly, keep it out of your bedroom.

An effective air purifier can significantly reduce allergic symptoms by trapping hair and allergens as well as viruses and bacteria through the Alpaire® HEPA filters. In addition, thanks to integrated activated carbon filters, the air is purified from pet odours and gases.
