Asthma – also known as allergic asthma or bronchial asthma – is a disease of the airways: the bronchi are narrowed, making it difficult for those affected to breathe in and out. The narrowing of the bronchi is usually triggered by an allergy, inflammation or a reaction to irritants. Substances in the workplace with can also cause allergic asthma, such as flour dust from bakers or flowers from florists. In cats, the main allergens are found in saliva, tear fluid, urine and dander. In dogs, they are found in fur and saliva. Interestingly, short-haired dogs produce more allergens than long-haired dogs.

As a first measure for improvement: Keep your distance. It would be best if you avoid contact with the animal. Nevertheless, this is not easy with a beloved pet. Cat allergies can usually be controlled with standard allergy drugs. However, it is advisable to avoid potential allergens as much as possible. Restrict the pet to certain sections of the house. Don't allow your cat or dog to roam free, and most importantly, keep it out of your bedroom.
